Questions and Answers with Dorothy Owsley from Blush:
My reception venue has a coordinator that comes
with the hall, why do I need to hire a planner/coordinator in addition?
Blush can give you three good reasons for hiring your own wedding planner.
1. The venue's event coordinator may quit his/her job before your wedding. When this happens, you may also
lose all of the things that had been agreed to verbally. Often Blush is hired by brides who call because all of their
plans left with the venue event coordinator.
2. Even if you don't run into a switch in personnel, it
is very common for brides to discover that the venue personnel will insist on things being done their way. Your
Blush planner will work with the venue to make sure everything is done your way.
3. The services
of the venue coordinator are often limited to the logistics of the room and the catering, (if the food is provided by
the venue). Some won't put anything other than food service items on the tables. You may be responsible for
place cards, table numbers, center pieces, candles and favors. The venue coordinator will not assist you in dealing
with other vendors, including your photographer, videographer, DJ or wedding band. Do you want to spend your reception
running the show? Blush will make sure that everything you've planned happens smoothly.
Shouldn't I start planning my wedding to see how much
I can get done on my own before I hire a wedding planner?
Actually, no. One
of the big advantages of working with Blush, is that we can save you a substantial amount of money on many "must
have" items for your wedding. If you are like most brides who plan their own wedding, chances are the first thing
you'll do is run out and get the dress. If you have a place in mind for the ceremony and/or reception (probably because
you attended someone else's wedding there) you'll book it right away so you don't lose the date. And then you'll take
a deep breath and realize that you've already spent thousands of dollars. That's okay, if you started with a huge
budget. But if you're a typical bride, you will need to start cutting down on the cost of things immediately.
So the remainder of your planning time will be somewhat frustrating because you'll find yourself chipping away at "the
dream" wedding to make it something you can afford.
Now let's just say, that instead of the dress, the first
thing you do is hire Blush. Right away we will sit down and you will share "the dream"--every single
bit of it with a professional planner. And then, in the very same conversation, we'll talk about how much you have to
spend on your wedding. We'll talk about how your money can be budgeted and we'll share ways in which "the dream"
can happen within that allotted amount. The good news is that Blush will automatically be able to discount some
of the necessary things. And instead of you having to call every vendor in the phone book to find companies
who can meet your needs at your price, Blush will make suggestions that fit your budget.
You'll still be
the one planning your wedding--but you'll only work on the things you have time to do and find enjoyable. Blush
will always be there to give suggestions, help you fill in the details and coordinate the entire event. Blush will be
doing all of the less interesting things--running errands to pick things up, making phone calls to confirm every last detail,
doing paper work and of course, keeping a close eye on your budget. Everytime you call we'll be available to do whatever
needs to be done. We want you to be able to enjoy every moment of creating your dream wedding!
My Mother says I don't need a Wedding
Planner--she didn't have one for her wedding, why do I need one?
I'm
sure your mother had a nice wedding. But, before you and her decide that you don't need the help of a
professional planner, you should sit down with your mother and compare her wedding needs with what you will need. Weddings
have changed a lot in twenty years. Blush has a Wedding Planning Guide, similar to what you'll find on a Bridal Website,
and it has 86 different items on it! Most brides will attempt to accomplish those 86 chores.
The contemporary
bride is much busier than the brides a generation ago. Many of those brides were still living in their parents' home.
Many of their mothers (your grandparent's generation) were home and able to give a lot of time to helping with the wedding.
Your lifestyle is probably already filled to over-flowing without adding 86 more things to do. The investment in a qualified
wedding planner is really an investment in your peace of mind. After you hire Blush, you will be able to relax knowing
that everything you've planned will happen. And, if you don't know what you want, or you can't come up with good ideas
for everything, you will have our creativity available for your use.
I'd really
like to have a planner, but I have a very limited budget. How can I afford you?
I can be affordable in several ways:
1. Many brides look at Blush as a luxury that
they can't afford in the present economy. A recent survey by WeddingReport.com revealed the 76.69% of brides are cutting
out the Bridal Consultant to save costs. Unfortunately, what they don't know (and won't get a chance to know if they
never call Blush) is that the Wedding Planner 2010 version is all about making your scaled back event look like a million
bucks! We have become not just planners, but innovators with the bottom line always in sight.
It starts with our connections. Blush is associated with Stylart,
and will our "Fantasy" and "Dream" Wedding packages will offer you a 50% discount on all stationary packages.
It continues with our expertise. Because
Blush has floral designers on staff, you will save tremendously. With our complete planning packages you will pay only
for the flowers. Our design fees are already included.
Add to that our innovative ideas to give you the luxury you want on the budget you have and you will not only be able to afford
our service--you won't be able to do with out Blush!
2. As you hire
individual vendors for your wedding, you will discover that many include a fee for any "on-site" work that they
do for you. For example, if you want rented items delivered and set-up at the church and reception you will pay a substantial
fee. Blush will do all of the set-up for you and stay around to make sure everything is just right and you won't have to pay
for that service.
3. Often the vendors you may choose to hire as your photographer, videographer,
caterer, etc. are expensive because they are well-known. Blush knows and will be able to suggest excellent professionals
who are less expensive to service your wedding needs, saving you hundreds or even thousands of dollars.
